Live fish are typically shipped on Thursdays for Friday delivery, weather permitting.
Because shipping live fish is highly sensitive, all live fish orders require overnight shipping and may include additional shipping charges.
Shipments may be delayed during extreme heat, cold, or severe weather to help protect the health and safety of the fish.
Please make sure someone is available to receive the delivery on the scheduled delivery date.

- Fins:Most notably, the males develop long, flowing dorsal and anal fins, giving the species its "Longfin Tetra" common name.
- Size:Grows to about 5 cm (2 inches) in length.
- Activity:An energetic and active schooling fish that requires ample swimming space.
- Schooling:A gregarious species, it should be kept in groups of at least 5-8 individuals to ensure proper social structure and to help them feel secure.
- Peaceful:Generally a peaceful and tranquil fish, making it a good candidate for a community aquarium.
- Territoriality:Due to their activity and size, they can intimidate smaller or slower-moving community fish, so tank mates should be chosen carefully.
- Tank Size:Needs a large aquarium, with tanks of at least 55 gallons being a good starting point, and even larger tanks being recommended.
- Aquascaping:A well-planted aquarium is ideal, providing cover and hiding spots for the fish to feel secure.
- Water Parameters:Prefers stable water conditions, with a temperature range of 72-80°F (22-27°C) and a pH between 6.5-7.5.
- Omnivorous:The Alestes Tetra has an omnivorous diet and will readily accept high-quality flake and pellet foods.
- Supplements:A varied diet including frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp can enhance their health and color.
