Why Shallow Feeders Work for Brachycephalic Dogs

Flat-faced breeds — brachycephalic dogs like pugs, French bulldogs, bulldogs, and Boston terriers — have difficulty reaching food in deep bowls due to their shortened snouts. Shallow slow feeder trays provide the perfect depth: easy to reach but still textured enough to slow eating, reduce gulping, and provide mental enrichment at every meal.

SodaPup's Most Recognized eTray

The Baja Design eTray is SodaPup's signature slow feeder — a beloved staple among dog owners who want enrichment that's as beautiful as it is functional. Inspired by the vibrant coastal culture of Baja, Mexico, the surface features bold geometric patterns, sweeping curves, and layered ridges that distribute food across the entire tray, forcing your dog to slow down and work through each section methodically.

The Baja eTray is the go-to recommendation for owners of flat-faced breeds: the 1.25" tray depth puts food well within reach of a pug's or bulldog's shortened snout, while the textured surface still provides enough resistance to extend mealtime by 5–10 minutes. Freeze it overnight with your dog's favorite wet food or peanut butter for a long-lasting lick enrichment session, or serve kibble fresh for daily slow feeding. Proudly made in the USA with FDA-compliant, BPA-free polypropylene.
